D-1

67 years ago a whole bunch of people where at D-Day, we've now arrived at D-1 and the tension is certainly mounting. A busy day - lots of stuff to square away before we leave work for 10 days, so a lot of admin to deal with.  I've ben properly grumpy today, but for a lot of good reasons.  Let's just say, learning has taken place on my part!!

Anyway, I'm sitting here, packed and kit ready, bike freshly out of service and ready to go.  What a shame the last 10 days at work has been 'car-crash' rubbish!!!  I'm hoping that the long hours in the office of late, the lack of sleep and rubbish diet don't take their toll over the next few days.  In fact, I'm looking forward to getting away just to improve on my amount of sleep - a couple of hours a night just ain't cutting it.  Still, it's only a 1000 miles, what could possibly go wrong?  Lots.

Good to see the RAF Marham boys arrive earlier this evening after a cheeky 140 mile leg - good drills fellas, but you need to sort out your route designer if he's going to stiff you with those distances!!  We'll see them at  joint photocall in the morning before both teams head off in different directions.

Must give a mention to my mate Nick who will be taking on the Col d'Aubisque and the Col du Tourmalet tomorrow.  I've done the Tormalet many years ago and it's an epic beast of a mountain -    Good luck mate!

Right, D-1 has now passed and D-Day for the RAFA 1000 Mile Cycle Challenge has arrived.  Best I get some sleep...............
